Uber is offering NHS staff free rides and food this Christmas

The company says the offer is “to say thank you for everything they do for us all year”.

Anyone with an NHS email address will be entitled to either a free ride or meal.

Hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers are once again being offered a free ride home or meal over the festive period.

Between Monday the 23rd of December and Friday the 27th of December, anyone with an NHS email address will be entitled to two £10 Uber rides to get to and from work, or two £10 meals over the festive season with Uber Eats.

Uber says the offer is “to say thank you for everything they do for us all year”.

Last year an estimated 400,000 NHS staff gave up time with their loved ones to care for patients over the festive period.

How to claim

  • Go to www.uber.com/nhs
  • Complete the registration form.
  • You’ll receive an email with your promo code(s) by 22 December 2019.

To apply the code open the Uber app, select ‘Payment/Wallet’ from the menu then tap ‘Add Promo’, and enter in your code. Make sure you redeem your codes between 00.00 am on Monday, 23 December 2019 and 11.59 pm on Friday, 27 December 2019.

Jamie Heywood, Uber’s Regional General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe said: “We all know someone who works tirelessly over Christmas to keep the NHS running and this is our way of saying thank you.

“For the third year, we’re offering NHS doctors, nurses and support staff a helping hand to get to and from work at Christmas time, when public transport is limited. This year, it’s fantastic to extend the offer to provide a free meal to help make those shifts a little easier.”
