How to vote by Proxy

Step 1: Open the RCN's Extraordinary General Meeting voting website.

Step 2: Login with Part one and Part two of your security code. Part one is your membership number (plus 1, 2 or 3 leading zeros to make it 8 digits long), and Part two is the last 4 characters of your postcode (excluding the space).

Step 3: Read through the information about proxy voting and carefully read both the Proposers' and Council statements for RCN EGM.

Step 4: Nominate either the Chair of the meeting or another member attending to vote on your behalf.

We recommend that any members wishing to support the vote of no confidence but are unable to attend the EGM list Danielle Tiplady as their proxy voter.

Step 5: Decide if you AGREE or DISAGREE with the motion; “We have no confidence in the current leadership of the Royal College of Nursing, and call on Council to stand down”.

Make sure you have read the Proposers' and Council statements carefully.

Failure to specify if you abstain, agree or disagree with the statement will allow the proxy voter to attend the EGM and decide on your behalf, or if you have selected the chair of the meeting or any other council member, they will automatically disagree with the resolution.

 Step 6: Submit your vote.

An indicative result will be given at the meeting. It will then be independently verified and published on the RCN website no later than Tuesday 2 October.
